I suggested this thread in the Step Out corner, so thought I'd better go first.
Let's share stories together from Step Out's we have done (and it doesn't have to be 2006 either) where we have seen God at work either in our own lives, other team members lives
One of my best memories would have been from the Broxburn mission a few years back.
I was leading the team and most of the team were new to Step Out. It was a team only doing a kids club in the morning in the mornings, so it wasn't really hard work. This may have been part of the problem as it was hard for myslef and the team to get motivated. We kind of went through the motions the first couple of days and it was okay, but not earth-shattering.
At the team meeting over lunch on the Tuesday, and you could sense an atmosphere of lethargy and non-enjopyment. I explained to the team that they were not really trying very hard to give the kids their best. This was a turning point as the whole team began to take ownership of what we were doing and take on different responsibilities for the kids club. The rest of the week went brillianty (well except for the time when we made a young boy cry because he got wet in a water game!!!). The team did brilliantly and really made the kids feel important and special each morning. And we all had a lot of fun in the afternoons and evenings chilling out together and building memories.
